Alumni Class Reunions
Scholarship Program The main reason for the existence of the Reading High School Alumni Association is our scholarship program. The scholarship program is funded by an endowment which is invested in both equities and bonds. In addition we continually add funds to the program as they become available. At the present time, we are giving a check for $1500 to each of the five top scholastic achievers in the senior class, as well as well as the two outstanding Reading High students at the Reading-Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center. As our endowment grows, we expect to increase both the amount and number of students honored. Early in May of each year, we have a dinner meeting at which time we give out the scholarship checks and also a special medallion to each of the five students. At this dinner, we also honor several outstanding alumni of Reading High School. Our list of past honorees reads like a Who’s-Who of Reading High School and they come from every walk of life, from sports, religion, business, education and entertainment. The annual dinner meeting has become one of the high points of the year with over 400 members attending. Every graduate of Reading High School is invited to become a member. We have two levels of membership. Annual at $6.00 per year, or a lifetime membership for a one time fee of $35.00. Of course, donations to the endowment fund are always welcome.
